Over 100,000 join TUC march against austerity – students prepare to march again next month

We need to build on the success of the trade union march against austerity and build the biggest possible student demo to resist education cuts and fees on Weds 21 November 2012.

Over one hundred thousand people marched on the streets of London to reject austerity and call for a future that works at the TUC’s national demonstration on Saturday. Thousands of students, pensioners and campaigners joined trade unionists in the biggest anti-cuts protest in Britain for more than a year.

Frances O’Grady, incoming General Secretary of the TUC, pledged to lead the trade unions into battle against the Tories to defend “our people” against the rich. She was joined at the closing rally by other trade union leaders, who called for national co-ordinated strike action to defend the majority against the Tories’ savage attacks on ordinary people.

In a month’s time – on Wednesday 21 November – tens of thousands of anti-cuts protesters will be taking to the streets of London once more, on the NUS student national demonstration against fees and cuts.

With four weeks to go the key task of the student movement is to flat out mobilise for the student march. Share and invite all of your friends to the facebook event now!
