Students join the Stop Trident national demo

Student Broad Left is supporting a major national demonstration called by the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) to Stop Trident, Britain’s nuclear weapons system.

Join us on Saturday 27 February in central London.

Student CND

We will be joining Youth and Student CND, the Student Assembly Against Austerity, the National Campaign Against Fees and Cuts and Stop the War on the student bloc of this demonstration to say: Fund Education Not Trident, we want Books Not Bombs.

Join the student bloc facebook event here. Join the main facebook event for the demo here.

The Tory government is planning to spend more than £100 billion to buy a new Trident nuclear weapons system. At the same time our education is under threat. Huge cuts are destroying our college and universities, £9,000 tuition fees make Britain one of the most expensive places to study in the world and education is set to become even more inaccessible as grants for the poorest students face the axe and student nurses have their bursaries scrapped.

Parliament will be voting on Trident in 2016. It’s time to decide our priorities. Do we spend billions on nuclear weapons designed to kill millions of people, or should we fund education and public services instead?

Get involved

* Check out this transport map to see if a coach has been booked from your area. If not, how about arranging one yourself?

* Order some leaflets from Youth and Student CND – contact their facebook page here to request some.

* Invite your friends to the facebook event and spread the word on social media.

Together we can show the government the scale of the opposition to its plans for nuclear bombs. Let’s stop Trident.
